Gary Ng was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Currently, he is pursuing his Bachelor of Architecture (LAM Part II) at the University of Malaya. He won multiple awards in many inter-university competitions during his time in UCSI University, pursuing his first degree; Bachelor of Science In Architectural Studies (LAM Part I).
With his education in Architecture; patterns, lines, shadows, texture, axis and colours became very important to him. He tends to see things in a parallel manner; he can always be found capturing absolute straight lines in his photographs, utilising the symmetrical properties of the backdrop.
Photojournalism had always moved him since he took up photography. He always tries to incorporate a powerful story in each of his photographs; this can be seen especially in his street and travel photographs which showcase local faces, lifestyle, landscapes and architecture.
Exposure to the performing arts scene in 2009; the beautiful movements, the incredible lighting and amazing choreography of a performance took his breath away when he took his first photos at a dance competition.
He had been featured in an interview by R.AGE, The Star and on many other websites / blogs. His works were exhibited at the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival (2011) and he was also one of the top 20 Contestants for Alliance François “Planet Women” International Photography Competition in Malaysia.
He also represented himself at the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival (KLPF) 2012 as one of the 7 finalists for the title of “Photo-creator of the year” which was themed “Seni (Art) & The City” where he presented his set of “Architecture & Dance” photographs.
